Hidden Gems found on Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head’s Hidden Gems

When visiting Hilton Head, you’ll find so many places to go, so many things to do, and wonderful places to dine. The following are some of those places that you may not have been to, and all are worth a visit when you’re on the island

MUNCHIES – Here’s a great little ice cream shoppe, that has marvelous sandwiches and soups. They serve high quality meats on their sandwiches, and their hot dogs are the best on Hilton Head from what I’ve found.

Make sure you save some room for desserts. The pies are homemade, their candy is homemade … and the ice cream is something you won’t want to miss.

And for those who look for gluten free … MUNCHIES offered many great options.

Munchies is located in Main Street Village. Look at their selections on their web site. www.munchiesshoppe.com (Phone: 843-785-3354)

FAT BABY’S PIZZA ~ If you’re in the mood for a great pizza, here’s a selection you won’t want to miss. They’re located at 1034 William Hilton Pkwy, and if you are headed toward Coligny and get to the circle, you just missed it.

The pizza and subs are homemade, using fresh ingredients. The meals they offer and delicious, and a good size portion.

The restaurant is a friendly setting, with excellent service … a great place to take the family for pizza and more. However, they do not deliver, so you can order something to go, but you’ll need to pick it up. You can call to order … 843-842-4200.

BRITISH OPEN PUB ~ This is a great little restaurant that pays homage to the game of golf, and the camaraderie of the 19th hole. The pub is located in the Village at Wexford and serves a variety of meals that you will enjoy.

Their “starters” are good sized portions (as is all the items they serve). The menu also includes sandwiches and dinners, with an array of specials on the “Early Golfers Menu” The Pub offers Saturday and Sunday Brunch, with an assortment to please everyone’s tastes.

Reservations are recommended. The British Open Pub is located at 1000 William Hilton Pkwy, Suite D-3.

THE JAZZ CORNER ~ When visiting or vacationing on Hilton Head Island, there is an exciting and entertaining attraction you won't want to miss. It's the Jazz Corner located in Wexford Village.

The restaurant serves excellent food, and the service is very attentive. The music is from the Jazz and Swing eras, and those who visit here have a great enthusiasm for this truly American art form, played by great musicians.

The club is intimate (holding approximately 100 people) and will take you back to an era when you had to "knock on the door, and tell them that Joe sent you". It’s an exciting and fun place to visit, and is one of the world's renowned great jazz rooms.

Reservations are recommended. Visit the Jazz Corner and you will take home an unforgettable memory. The Jazz Corner is located in The Village at Wexford, C-1. You can find more information at http://www.thejazzcorner.com

DRY DOCK ~ Dry Dock is a local restaurant that is “off the beaten path’, but is certainly worth finding. The food here is well prepared, and although the menu is not “extensive”, anything you order will be prepared well and delicious.

There are a variety of sandwiches and dinner plates to satisfy your appetite. And their desserts will be more than enough to complete your lunch of dinner.

Dry Dock is located at 21 Office Park Rd, Ste 105C. Their phone number is 843-842-9775. If you are not familiar with Hilton Head, you probably should use a GPS to find this place, but it is certainly well worth the find.

HILTON HEAD DINER ~ If you’re looking for a place to have a great meal, and will have something for everyone, then the Hilton Head Diner should be on the top of your list of choices.

From appetizers to salad, sandwiches to wraps, lunch and dinner entrees to suit whatever you in the mood for, you’ll find it here.

And breakfast is served whenever you want it.

You’ll find Hilton Head Diner to be as good, or better, than any diner you’ve ever visited (including those from New Jersey, known as the “diner capitol of the world”).

One other distinction for this restaurant; it is the only one on Hilton Head Island that is open 24/7. So if you feel the need for some great food and it’s 3:00 AM, this is the place for you.
